Mattie Dick

Mattie Dean Dick, 82, of Hinton went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at her home following a long illness with her loving family by her side.

Born March 8, 1939 in Talcott she was the daughter of the late William Gordon and Lucille Alva Raines Kirby.

Mattie attended Lick Creek Baptist Church. She worked at Pipestem State Park, Summers County Hospital in food service and Halstead’s Nursing Home as a nurse’s aide but her pride was in being a homemaker. Mattie dedicated her life to raising her family, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mattie also enjoyed traveling, riding in the car enjoying God’s beautiful creation.

She was preceded in death by one son, Frankie Vernon Lowry; two grandchildren, J.W. Ward and Thomas Wayne Huffman II and one brother, Jennings Lewis Kirby.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 57 years, Leroy Dick of Hinton; eight children, Dr. Jerry Wayne Lowry and wife Tammie of Max Meadows, VA, Pam Seamster and husband Steve of Hinton, Vickie Cales and husband Chuck of Hinton, Teresa King of Hinton, Drema Childress and husband Jeff of Richmond, VA, Randy Lowry of Hinton, Leroy “Bunny” Dick of Hinton and Lisa Lowry of NC; fourteen grandchildren, Carrie Lynn Liston and husband James, J. Scott Lowry, Jessi Collins and husband David, Cassie Christian, Heaven Cales, Heather King, Kenny Ray Davis and partner Mike Graham, Whistle Treadway, Crystal Woodrum (whom Mattie and Leroy raised as their own) and partner Micah Woodrum, Morgan Paige Lowry, Amber Sears, Derek Dick, Brittany Moose and husband Bradley, Brooke Powell and husband Jesse; 22 great grandchildren and six very special friends, Tina Mounts, Diane Johnson, Tabitha Phelps, Anthony Bowling, Rhonda Taylor and Robbie Merritt.

A private memorial service was held with Pastors Robbie Merritt and Adam Bragg officiating.
