Lancie Harvey

September 19, 1938 — April 7, 2021

On April 7 th , 2021 the angels sang a little louder as Lancie Leroy Harvey, 82, of Fairfield, Ohio was reunited with his sons, John Leo and Edward Leroy Harvey.

Leroy was born and raised at Streeter, in Summers County, West Virginia, by his late parents, Wade and Bessie Pack Harvey. He was preceded in death by brothers, John, Gene and Charles Harvey and sister Carol Gregory.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 59 years, Glenna Harvey; daughters, Kathy Harvey and Debra Jones; grandchildren, Dillon Jones and wife Elizabeth and Katherine Jones; great granddaughter, Harper Jones; brother, Vernon Harvey and sister, Janice Deeds Cales.

Leroy graduated from Hinton High School and Beckley College. He worked as a tool maker and engineer for General Electric for many years and served as a teacher and mentor to others at Scarlet and Diamond Oaks.

Leroy had a heart of gold, he was a wonderful family man. He never met a stranger, he was well known for his kindness and giving. Leroy loved serving God, he sang gospel music for many years with the Gospel Journey Men and Ball family.

He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who touched the lives of everyone he met. Leroy loved God, his family and friends with all he had and spent his life serving and helping others. If there was a need, whether it was a bottle of water, a car, a place to live, money, a hug or just a word of encouragement he could be counted on to help.

Over the years, he shared his heart, his voice, his strength and his wisdom with those around him.

Even in his sickness, Leroy trusted God to do what was best and he exemplified Christ in his suffering by expressing his love and appreciation to the doctors, nurses, technicians and other hospital staff for the care they provided even if it caused him pain. He sacrificed himself to be present with his beloved family and in so doing he showed us what love looks and acts like. Through his kindness, gentleness, meekness and love he introduced others to Jesus and we know that on this day he stands in the courts of Heaven rejoicing and singing praises to the most high God that he served with his life, his heart and his songs.

Life here without him will be challenging, but all of heaven is rejoicing because it gained another saint with a heart of gold.
