James "Jim" Cales

August 17, 1937 — October 3, 2021

James “Jim” Richard Cales, 84, of Talcott went home to be with the Lord Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital following a short illness.

Born August 17, 1937 at Hinton he was the son of the late Walter Cales Sr. and Rachel Mae Robinson Cales.  A member of Spruce Run Chapel, former coal miner, truck driver for Vecellio and Grogan, employee of Shrewsberry Farms. He enjoyed gardening, tinkering with small engines and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Sue Cales; son, Timothy Williams and several brothers and sisters.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Cindy Boothby, Jeannie Browning, Melissa McGlothlin and husband Jon, J.R. Cales and wife Samantha and Lisa Cales; twelve grandchildren, Kathryn, Nancy, Rachel, Lillian, Levi, Austin, Dixie, Brandon, Justin, Heather, Ashley and Celese; two great grandchildren, Harrison and Mallorie; one brother, Robert “Bob” Cales and wife Loraine and one sister, Shirley Cales.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, October 7, 2021 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Pete Dunford officiating.  Burial will follow in the Cales Cemetery at Clayton.  Friends may call from 11:00 am until service time on Thursday at the funeral parlors.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
