James "Butch" Richmond Jr.

October 28, 1966 — July 7, 2020

James “Butch” E. Richmond Jr., 53 of Sand Knob, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, July 7, 2020 following a long illness.

Born October 28, 1966 in Tucson, AZ, he was the son of James “Jimmy” E. Richmond, Sr. and Venita Lilly Richmond of Sand Knob.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Brett and Mary Beatrice Lynn, paternal grandparents, Carl and Lavattia Susan Lilly, and a very special cousin, Beth White.

Besides his parents, those left to cherish his memory include, one brother, David C. Richmond and wife Carolyn of Sand Knob; two very much-loved nieces, Lillian and Hannah Richmond and cousins Steve White, Tyler White and wife Candi and their daughter Kenzie, and Tristan White, all of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The family would like to express our deep gratitude to Dr. Stanley Day, Alisa Lane, the staff at Family Care Clinic, and the many other healthcare providers that have aided in Butch’s care.  He was especially thankful for the prayers and at-home visits that his healthcare “family” provided.

Butch was a construction worker for many years and especially excelled in his dry walling skills.  He was a member of the JB Nimitz VFD and a former employee at his dad’s business, Jim’s Body Shop at Nimitz.  Butch loved being outdoors and enjoyed working in many capacities on the family farm and riding dirt bikes and four wheelers.

Butch cherished his dad and mom and appreciated their devotion as his caretakers.  He and his brother had a special and irreplaceable bond which was also graciously extended to his sister-in-law.  “Uncle Butchie,” as he was fondly called by his nieces Lillian and Hannah, also had a dear connection.  The three spent countless hours talking about all things big and small, playing restaurant, and making memories that will last a lifetime.

A Graveside service and burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, July 9, 2020 at the Lilly-Crews Cemetery in Nimitz with Pastor Larry Cochran officiating. There will not be a visitation.  Any family and friends are welcome to meet at the cemetery until the time of service.  For the safety of the family and community precautionary guidelines will be followed.
