On October 2, 2017, at approximately 5:15 p.m. Clifford Larman Lancaster was called home to rest in peace with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Clifford was born on September 16, 1943 in Washington, D.C. to the late Thelma Arrington Lancaster and the late Clifford Emanuel Lancaster.
He attended elementary school in Madison County Virginia where he lived with his maternal grandparents. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age in Madison County Virginia. He attended Locust Grove Baptist Church. In 1957 Clifford returned to Washington, D.C. where he completed his education by attending Randall Junior High School and graduated from Phelps Vocational High School.
Clifford served two years in the U. S. Army that included a tour in Viet Nam. After returning home from the military he began his food industry career and became a meat cutter. Over the years he worked at several food chain stores which included Giant, Jumbo, and Safeway. He also worked at the Radisson Hotel and finally at the Commissary at Andrews Air Force Base from which he retired on disability.
He enjoyed gardening and was so proud of his lawn which was just beautiful every year. He also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends.
Clifford married his best friend Lynda Barnes on February 14, 1981 and they resided in Temple Hills, Maryland until their relocation to Talcott, West Virginia in 2009, where he was able to hunt, fish and enjoy the country life that he missed so much.
Cherishing his memory are his beloved wife Lynda, and two sons, Colonel and Omar, two daughters, Peggy and Kimberley, and six grandchildren. Four sisters Carolyn (Charles) Coaston, Marilyn Carpenter, Nancy Yvonne Pitts, Jean Prince, six sisters-in law and five brothers in-law and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a sister Janice Saint-Louis.
A Celebration of Life will be held 12:00 P.M. Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Rev. Brian Copney Sr. officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until time of services Saturday at the funeral parlors. At Clifford's request, cremation will follow the service.
