Charles Cole

Charles E. “Pop Charlie” Cole, 93, of Sand Knob entered into eternal rest Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at his home following a long illness.

Born May 1, 1928, at Jumping Branch he was the son of the late Sterling and Elvira Harper Cole.  Charlie was a member of the Sand Knob United Methodist Church and the Carpenters Union.  He proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a Machinist’s Mate Second Class during the Korean War.  He was a master woodworker who enjoyed carpentry and being the handyman for his community of Sand Knob.  Charlie was an avid outdoorsman and loved turkey hunting, camping, and gardening.  He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Preceded in death by his wife Aileen Wills Cole and his siblings, Ulysses Cole, Melvin Cole, Anna Jean Crimmel, Lois Dalton and Rosalie Auxier.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Rebecca Pauley and husband Chris of FL; grandchildren, Emily Mounts and companion Richie Spearen, Mark Stiltner, and Ashley Wray and husband Zach; great grandchildren, Haleigh Cozort, Ellie Cozort, and Brady Cole Cozort; and a very special friend whom he cared for like a son, Adrian Rollyson.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, August 22, 2021, at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastors Penny Bivens and Patricia Worles officiating.  Burial will follow in the Lilly-Crews Cemetery at Nimitz.  Friends may call from 6-8 pm Saturday, August 21, 2021 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel.

Adrian Rollyson, Chris Pauley, John Bowling, Steve Rollyson, Mark Stiltner, Brady Cozort and Ritchie Spearen will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to sincerely thank Hospice of Southern WV and Charlie’s Aides, Sherry Canaday, Christy Bonds, Sarah Fox, and Abby Bennett who greatly helped during his final journey on Earth.
