Bettie Jane Meadows Gilpin Gwinn, 80, of Jumping Branch went home to Heaven on angel wings, Thursday March 21, 2019 at her home following a long illness.
Born September 25, 1938 at Hinton she was the daughter of the late Marlin Markus Meadows and Donnie Susan Ward Meadows. Bettie was a member of the Hinton Gospel Tabernacle; a 1956 graduate of Hinton High School; and was retired from Ames Department Store.
Bettie was preceded in death by her first husband Durward "Kenny" Gilpin, Jr. and her second husband Darrell H. Gwinn; two sisters Janice Ballard and Yonnie Bennett; three brothers Terry "Snookie", Marlin and Marvin Meadows; two brothers in law David Foster and Wayne Bennett; and son in law Mark Willis.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, David Gilpin and wife Laurie of Lincolnton, NC and Dennis Gilpin and wife Dawn of Bluefield, WV; daughter, Donna Willis of Wayside, WV; daughter in law Cindy Gilpin of Denver, NC; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Willis and wife Vicky of Union WV, Shelley Akers and husband Brian of Beeson, WV, Justin Willis and Darrell Raines of Dania Beach, FL, Brian Gilpin of Mechanicsville, VA, Matthew Gilpin of Lincolnton, NC, Nathan Gilpin and wife Darian of Lincolnton, NC and Seth Gilpin and wife Kelsie of Lincolnton, NC; four great grandchildren Nicholaus Ross of Gastonia, NC, Hannah Willis of Union, WV, Noah Gilpin and Haylie Gilpin of Lincolnton, NC, and one expectant grandson due in May 2019; two sisters, Marlene Townsley and husband Paul of Danville, WV and Wilma Foster of Miamisburg, OH; brother in law, William "Poody" Ballard.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday March 25, 2019 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors in Hinton with Pastor Terry Weatherly officiating. Burial will follow in the Restwood Memorial Gardens near Hinton. Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. Sunday at the funeral parlors. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
