Woodrow E. ?Woody? Martin, 78, of Talcott, died Wednesday, May 04, 2005 at 12:32 A. M. at the Summers Co. Appalachian Regional Hospital at Hinton, following a long illness. Born January 20, 1927 at Judson, he was the son of the late Waitman Esco and Mary Mae Grimmett Martin. Woody had lived most of his adult life in Cleveland, OH and retired to Talcott in 1982. He was retired from General Motors Co. He was a member of the Judson Freewill Baptist Church, a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and an avid gardener. Preceded in death by his wife Blanche L. Martin, one stepson, Darrell Hicks, two brothers, Henry and Kenneth Martin and two sisters, Pansy Fox and Regina Martin. Survived by three daughters, Darlene Mardinia and husband Charlie of Mesa, AZ, Aldona Reese and husband Allen of Talcott and Marlene Martin of Talcott, one son, Norman Martin and wife Jeanie of Cleveland, OH, eight grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, two brothers, Bill Martin and wife Goldie of Talcott and Elliott Martin and wife Naomi of Indianapolis, IN, two sisters, Mona Roach and husband Ernie of Indianapolis, IN and Ruth Martin of Talcott and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Wilford Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery on Powley?s Creek. Friends may call at the funeral parlors from 6-8 P.M. Thursday. His grandsons and friends will serve as pallbearers.
