William E. Mates

           William E. Mates, 51, of Beckley passed away August 23, 2023 at Raleigh General Hospital following a short illness.  Born June 20, 1972 in Toledo, OH he was the son of the late James A. Mates Sr. and Mildred Kutz Mates.

            He was a graduate of Alderson High School and a disabled Veteran of the United States Navy.

            Survived by his brother, James A. Mates Jr. and his sister, Barbara (Greg) Sete along with his three nephews.

            A gathering of family and friends will be held 11:00 am Thursday September 7, 2023 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel.  Friends may call from 9:00 am until service time on Thursday at the funeral parlors.  Burial will follow in the Mates Family Cemetery near Alderson.  Casual attire and walking shoes are recommended to attend the burial.

            Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
