Wilbert Ray “Bucky” Adkins Jr., 53, of Madams Creek Hinton went home to be with the Lord Friday, April 19, 2024 at Summers County Appalachian Regional Hospital following a work related accident.
Born January 27, 1971 at Hinton, he was a son of Wilbert Ray “Buck” Adkins Sr. and wife Vada and Judy Gill Adkins all of Hinton.
Bucky was a faithful member of Martha Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a 1989 graduate of Hinton High School. Bucky was a brick and block mason for Radford & Radford with over 20 years of service and was currently employed with the City of Hinton Public Works.
He enjoyed hunting, spending time with family and friends, gardening and going to church. Bucky was always lending a helping hand to all that needed it. He was an excellent carpenter who had built his own log home milling all the lumber which he was proud of.
Bucky was preceded in death by a grandson, Dakota Cales; one brother, Daniel Adkins; one nephew, Seth Adkins and his father in law, Terry “Snookie” Meadows.
Besides his parents those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 20 years, Brittany; one son, Casey Cales (Tiffany); two daughters, Ariel Adkins (Anthony) and Madison Adkins; two nephews he considered as sons, Michael Adkins (Kristen) and Hunter Adkins; eight grandchildren, Makayla, Jordan, Nevaeh, Brinleigh, Kasey, Aubrey, Michael and Kiarra; mother in law, Susie Meadows; sister in law, Andrea Stracener (Sonny); special hunting buddy, John “John Boy” Bowling; step brother, John Price; step sister, JoAnn Price Elmore (Jarrod); three beloved canines, Bella, Copper and Bingo; several aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be 1:00 Friday, April 26, 2024 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastors Ed Dolphin and Adam Bragg officiating. Burial will follow in the Adkins Family Cemetery at Madams Creek. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral parlors.
Pallbearers: Casey Cales, Josh Bowling, Joseph Bowling, Steve Mounts, George Avis, Robert Keaton, John Bowling and Kevin Richmond.
