Wanda Marie Cales Ward, 72, of Chestnut Mt. passed away Thursday January 11, 2018 at Bowers Hospice House surrounded by her loving family following a long illness.
Born February 25, 1945 at Chestnut Mt. she was the daughter of the late Ocie M. and Arnold Cales. Wanda was a member of the Ramp Church of Christ, former Medical Records Clerk and Cook for Summers County Hospital, a graduate of the Culinary Arts School through Pipestem, enjoyed music, playing guitar, loved Elvis Presley and his music, "She did it her Way", flower gardening, her hummingbirds, reading and studying her bible, going for long country rides and vacationing with family, taking care of her yard and cooking for her family. She was a true matriarch of the Cales Family. She dearly loved her cats Tinker and Abby.
Preceded in death by a grandchild, Baby Toler; two brothers, Jerry and Ralph Cales and one sister, Ethel Nadine Cales.
Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Karen Kann and husband Jeff of PA and Patty Ward of Chestnut Mt.; one son, Timmy Ward of Chestnut Mt.; two grandchildren, Kyle Messinger of MI and Samantha Mize of Huntington; honorary grandchild, Alexis Richmond of Chestnut Mt.; honorary daughter, Meloney Richmond of ME; one brother, Jimmy Cales of Chestnut Mt.; four sisters, Bonnie Rhoads and husband Jim of Gate City, VA, Peggy Walton of Chestnut Mt., Decredia Cales of Chestnut Mt. and Teresa Johnson and husband Bart of Daniels and several nieces, nephews and cousins whom she adored.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Monday, January 15, 2018 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Brother Paul Lane officiating. Burial will follow in the Cales Cemetery at Chestnut Mt. Friends may call from 11:00 am until service time on Monday at the funeral parlors.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
