Virginia LeAnn Spicer Butler, 59, of Fayetteville, NC, formerly of Hinton, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2026 peacefully in her sleep at her home.
Born November 17, 1966 in Welch, she was the daughter of Shirley Fox Spicer of Hinton and the late Jerry C. Spicer.
LeAnn was a graduate of Hinton High School and a United States Army Veteran who loved horses and watching Nascar races. She had worked at Pipestem Stables and had also driven a tractor trailer and a school bus. She was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be missed by all who knew her.
Besides her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael F. Butler Jr.; her maternal grandparents, James L. and Macil R. Fox; paternal grandparents, Ott Spicer and Anna Mae Spicer Cashion and step grandfather, William Cashion; two aunts, Louanna Fox and Lora Lee Barnes and one uncle, James Spicer.
Besides her mother those left to cherish her memory include four daughters, Melissa Stephens of Cary, NC, Jackie Sanders of Fayetteville, NC, Sherri Martindale of CO and Michele Rhone of NE; two sons, Andrew Butler of Fayetteville, NC and Justin Butler of Twinsburg, OH; thirteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two uncles, Donald R. Barnes and Harold J. Spicer; several cousins including two special cousins, Donald R. Barnes II and Rachel Russell; special family friend, Margaret Plumley and childhood friend, Kim Rodes.
Following LeAnn’s wishes her body will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
