Virginia Charlotte Newman, 89, of Hinton has earned her heavenly wings on Tuesday March 6, 2018 following a long illness.
Born August 17, 1928 in Hinton she was the daughter of the late Dewey Dick and Virgie Cynthia Ballengee. She was of the Baptist Faith, retired from manufacturing for Maryland Cup Inc. with over 20 years of service. Loved gardening, bird watching, quilting, crocheting, crossword puzzles and spending time with her family and friends.
Preceded in death by her husband, John Newman, three daughters, Loraine Davis, JoAnn Huffman and Patricia Lewis; grandson, Darrell Wayne Cales, one infant great grandson and one sister, Gay Laversa.
Those left to cherish her memory include five daughters, Loretta Jean Cales of Hinton, Dreama Pendergrass and husband Billy of Roanoke, VA, Vickie Wheeler and husband Joe of Sandstone, WV, Alberta Clifford and husband David of Baltimore, MD and Virginia Divers and husband Howard of Cross, SC; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, thirty-two great great grandchildren, two great great great grandchildren; one sister, Leattras Pence of Ohio and two brothers, Hershell Dick and wife Laura of Richmond, VA and James F. Dick and wife Imgard of Richmond, VA.
Funeral services will be held 7:00 pm Thursday March 8, 2018 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Friends may call from 5:00 pm until service time on Thursday at the funeral parlors.
At her request cremation will follow the service.
