Virginia Carter

Virginia Perry Carter, 100, of Talcott, died at 8:50 P.M. Monday, March 28, 2005 at the Summers Co. Continuous Care Center at Hilldale, following a short illness. Born March 8, 1905 at Alderson, she was a daughter of the late George and Laura Huffman Perry. Mrs. Carter had lived most of her life in Kanawha County, where she worked at the WV Dept. of Motor Vehicles until retiring in 1969. Earlier in her life she had taught school in Summers and Monroe Counties. She and her husband returned to Talcott following retirement. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church at Talcott. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence E. Carter, four brothers; Curtis, Roger, Houston and Dick Perry and one sister, Louise Perry Walker. Survived by, one daughter, Virginia (Ginny Lou) Martin, of Talcott, one son, Larry E. Carter Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, MI, two grandchildren, Lawrence E. Carter II and Robin Pickens and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in the Talcott Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral parlors one hour prior to services.
