Violet Edwards Foley Kesner

Violet Edwards Foley Kesner, 76, of True died peacefully Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born February 6, 1949 at True she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Delores Shumate Edwards.

Violet was a former Medical Records Clerk at Summers County Hospital and retired from R. R. Donelly, a manufacturing company, in Strasburg, VA. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, reading and spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

Violet was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Michael Kesner; one grandson, Cory Carr; two sisters, Sharon Marcum Smithson and Charlene Williams Hardy.

She is survived by her two daughters, Lori Carr of Maurertown, VA and Amy Madigan and husband Dwayne of Edinburg, VA; four grandchildren, Andy Carr, Thomas McGuire, Shelley Coleman and Austin Madigan; eight great grandchildren; five siblings, Gary Edwards, Phillip Edwards, Kathy Kershner, Janet Mines and John Edwards and several nieces and nephews.

Violet donated her body to science and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations of sympathy be made to Hospice of Southern WV, 456 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, WV 25801.
