Vincent Carl Lester, 68, of Hinton went home to be with the Lord Sunday August 3, 2025, at Peyton Hospice House following a long illness. Born November 14, 1956, in Mullens he was the son of the late Carl Kenneth Lester and Nellie Mae Smith Lester Harrah.
Vince was a member of Freedom Baptist Church at Powley’s Creek, retired Truck Driver for Maverick Transportation with 20 years of service and a former employee of Western Auto and Radio Shack in Hinton. He enjoyed playing harmonica during church services as long as his health permitted and remote-control cars. He was a handyman who could fix almost anything. Vince had never met a stranger and was a very special person to his family and friends, especially his wife Barbara. He made a wooden cross with lights which he carried in his passenger seat of his 18-wheeler as a constant testimony and reminder of his Savior Jesus Christ as he traveled the highways. He will be forever missed by all.
Preceded in death by his sister, Tenavee Lester Crow and and stepfather, Junior Harrah.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 49 years, Barbara Cox Lester; one son, Tyler Cox and wife Colleen; special nieces and nephews, Ashley Madden, Chris Fox and B.J. Cox Jr.; two sisters, Aleasa Bennett and husband James, Carmelia Toney and partner Stephen Hatcher; one brother, Aaron Lester and wife Jeannie, and numerous additional nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, August 7, 2025 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastors John Offenberger and Josh Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Family Cemetery at Meadow Creek. Friends may call from noon until time of services on Thursday at the funeral parlors.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
