Verna Mae Voiers, 87, of Hilldale entered into the arms of the Lord, Thursday April 21, 2016 at Summers County Appalachian Regional Hospital.
Born July 7, 1928 at Clayton she was a daughter of French C. and Lottie Ballengee Williams.
She was a graduate and class president of the first practical nursing class in Summers County, January 4, 1970. She was a member of Bellepoint Baptist Church and a former Sunday school teacher at Laurel Creek Baptist Church. Verna was a former LPN at the Old Hinton Hospital, Summers County Hospital, the V.A. Medical Center in Beckley and had worked for Dr. Rohani.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Hayward Ward and Ray Voiers; one son, Dale Ward; two sisters, Virginia Hicks and Vivian Raines and four brothers, Ralph Williams, Tommy Joe Williams, Ronald Williams, and Paul Williams.
Those left to cherish her memory include, one son, Edwin Ward and one daughter, Linda McGraw, both of Hilldale; two stepsons, John Voiers of KS and Joey Voiers of Beckley; one daughter in law, Addie Ward; twelve grandchildren, Jack McGraw and wife Veronica, Stewart McGraw and wife Priscilla, Matthew McGraw and wife Darilyn, Jamie Hutteman and husband Thomas, Jason Ward and wife Page, LeAnne Ward, Angela Roop and husband Chad, Gerry Ellen Moore and husband Brian, Tina Pierson and husband Brian, Stacy Galvez and husband James, Melody Totten and husband Kyle; nine great grandchildren, Allen McGraw, Kylea Pollinger, Riley and Harrison Ward, Monica Hutteman, Claire McGraw, Landon Pierson, Stephen Roop, Mary Beth Roop and Emily Moore; one brother, Alvin Williams of Stuarts Draft, VA; three sisters, Leota Spade of Pence Springs, Joyce Huffman and husband Tommy of Forest Hill, Marianna Ward of Jacksonville, FL; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday April 24, 2016 at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Eddie Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Cooper Cemetery at Sandstone. Friends may call from 2:00 P.M. until time of services Sunday at the funeral parlors.
Family will serve as pallbearers.
