Sonny Grimmett

            Sonny Grimmett, 91, of Alderson went home to be with the Lord and rejoined his family in Heaven Friday October 7, 2022 following a brief illness.

            Born August 11, 1931 at Alderson he was the son of the late Raymond C. and Flora C. Richmond Grimmett.  A member of the Elk Knob Baptist Church and a Veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War where he served as a Medic and was part of the battle for Pork Chop Hill.  Sonny loved woodworking, carving and whittling wood and spending time with his family and friends.

            Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Maple Grimmett; two sisters, Leona Ramsey and Alma Reed and his brother, Owen Grimmett.

            Those left to cherish his memory include two sons, Roger and Mike Grimmett both of Alderson; two grandchildren, Cody Grimmett and Cassandra Persinger and five great grandchildren.

            Funeral services will be held 12:00 pm Monday October 10, 2022 at the Elk Knob Baptist Church with Pastor Andy Howdock officiating.  Burial will follow in the Elk Knob Baptist Church Cemetery.  Friends may call from 11:00 am until time of the services on Monday at the church.

            Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
