Shirley Ward

Shirley T. Ward, 80, of Hinton went home to be with the Lord Monday August 7, 2017 at her home following a sudden illness.
Born July 6, 1937 at Pemberton, WV she was a daughter of the late John G.C. and Lydia Guess Tate.
Shirley was a homemaker and lifelong resident of Summers County. She was of the Baptist faith and devoted her life to the Lord, ministering to her children daily. Shirley was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Shirley was preceded in death by two sons, Eddie and Freddie Ward and three grandchildren, Alex Brittany Noel Ward, Justin Alen and Bradley Jennings Ward; three sisters and six brothers.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Donna Banton and husband Bill of Alderson, Teddy "Kook" Ward and wife Lana of Greenville, NC, Cindy "Penny" Amtower and husband Paul of Keyser, Sam "PJ" Ward and wife Kristie of Black Mt., NC, Tony Ward and wife Robin of Alderson, Dwayne "Pete" Ward and wife Lisa of Jumping Branch, Beverly "Cis" Starks and husband Dale of Hinton, Andy Ward and wife Missy of Hinton and Kimmy Adkins and husband Jackie of Nimitz; twenty seven grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial will be 3:00 P.M. Friday, August 11, 2017 at Upland Cemetery with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 2:30.
She will be carried to her resting place by her loving sons whom she carried into this world.
