Sharon Elaine Edwards Marcum Smithson, 58, of Burlington, NC formerly of True went to be with the Lord Friday, February 24, 2017 at Hospice Home in Burlington, NC following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born February 6, 1959 in True she was a daughter of the late Arthur Wilson Edwards and Violet Delores Shumate.
Sharon was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, working in her flowers and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of the James Chapel United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Rex Marcum and a daughter, Chasity Hope Marcum.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, James Conrad Smithson at home; daughter, Angela Faith Roberson of Princeton; three stepsons, Michael, Woodrow and Greg Smithson all at home; two grandchildren, Haley Roberson and Ethan Roberson; siblings, Violet Kesner and husband Michael of Middletown, VA, Gary Edwards and wife Mary of True, Phillip Edwards and wife Gladys of Princeton, Katherine Kershner and husband Jim of Indianapolis, IN, Janet Mines and husband Mike of True, Charlene Edwards of True and John Edwards of Middletown, VA and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 27, 2017 at the James Chapel United Methodist Church at True with Pastor David Damewood officiating. Burial will follow in the Edwards Cemetery at True. Friends may call from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral parlors.
