Sgt. First Class Bernard "Harper" Tyler Harper

 

     Sgt. First Class Bernard “Harper” Tyler Harper, 77, of Prosperity went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at Cornerstone in Huntington following a short illness.

     Born October 21, 1945 in Amigo, WV he was a son of the late Dennis Gaines Sr. and Nettie Arlene Linkous Harper.

     Bernard was of the Baptist faith.  He was a retired U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran who enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.  Papa Harper especially adored his grandchildren.

     Bernard was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale Harper and Dennis Harper Jr. (KIA Vietnam).

     Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 47 years, Connie Richmond Harper; one daughter, Melissa Leslie (Derrick); three sons, Scott Harper (Tara), Justin Harper (Amber) and Joey Harper; eight grandchildren, Hunter and Dylan Leslie, Tyler, Ashton and Payton Harper and Alyssa, Audrey and Colton Harper; seven siblings, Johnny Harper, Jewell Perkins, Linda Vroman, Joyce Chapman (Doug), Debbie Cox, Mary Harper and Gladys Carte (Mike) and special friends through his life’s journey, Glen Pike, Jeff Lilly, Jaron Jones, Marshall Brown, Matt Blansit, Jaren Lingle, Forest Rainey, Shaun Menard (Rude Dawg), Les Cooks and Josh Maxey.

     Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 6, 2023 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Derrick Leslie officiating. Burial will follow in the Williams-Richmond Cemetery at Tempa. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral parlors. Pallbearers will be Scott Harper, Hunter and Dylan Leslie, Tyler Harper, Shaun Menard and Jared Lingle.

     In lieu of flowers donations of sympathy may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project in his honor.
