Samuel Ray Turner

             Samuel Ray Turner, 77, of Seminole Road Forest Hill went home to be with the Lord Friday November 10, 2023, at his home following a short illness.

            Born March 6, 1946 at Forest Hill, he was the son of the late Joe and Norene Saunders Turner.  A member of the Roles Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where he served as Head Trustee, retired conductor for CSX-T with 39 years of service, veteran of the United States Army, avid farmer and cattleman for many years, avid college football and basketball fan but his true love was spending time with his family and friends especially his grandchildren.

            Preceded in death by three sisters, Linda Turner Coleman and two infant sisters and two brothers, Robert J. Turner and Earl R. Turner.

            Those left to cherish his memory include his loving and faithful wife of 53 years, Remona Harris Turner; three children, Christie Teague and husband Todd, Stephen Turner and wife Bobbi and Susan Rutherford and husband Roy; five grandchildren, Katelyn Teague, Jacob Teague, Emily Turner, Jordan Rutherford and Sarah Turner; sister-in-law, Jane Turner; brother-in-law, Andrew Coleman; his special canine friend, Baxter and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

            Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Monday, November 13, 2023 at the Roles Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with Pastors Butch Honaker and Josh Cox officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Friends may call from 11:00 am until service time on Monday at the Church.

            Jacob Teague, Roy Rutherford, Todd Teague, Bane Morris, Chris Blume, Chris Craghead, Doug Grimmett and Alfred Reese will serve as pallbearers.

            Calvin Martin, Bill Irons and Melvin Turner will serve as honorary pallbearers.

            In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Roles Chapel Cemetery Fund at 5184 Seminole Road Forest Hill, WV 24935.
