Roy Allen "Johnny" Sears Jr., 68 of Hopewell, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2015.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Allen Sears Sr. & Goldie Louellen Smith Sears; several brothers and sisters; a son in law, Tasewell Johnson Sr.
Roy served his country proudly in the Marine Corps and was wounded in Vietnam and received the Purple Heart. He retired from American Tobacco as a trainer after many years of service. Roy enjoyed fishing, baseball, basketball, biking, and bowling. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Roy is survived by his wife, Carolyn Jean Norwood Sears; his daughters, Beverly Jo Sears, Andrea Dawn Johnson; his grandchildren, Tasewell Johnson Jr., Alexis Dawn Johnson, Tyrell Turner Allen Johnson; his siblings, Darrell Sears and his wife, Bettie, Connie Clayton, Donna Davis, Bobbie Blevins and her husband, Fairley, John Sears, Hazel Walters, Shirley Meadows, and her husband, Joe, Hallie Sims, and Rose Bragg; half brothers, James Dick, Toby Dick; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 6pm on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5pm to 6pm on Wednesday November 11, 2015 at the funeral home. Interment will be held at a later date in Hinton, WV.
