Ronald J. Rootes

Ronald J. Rootes, 74, of Hinton formerly of Green Island, NY went home to be with the Lord Sunday, January 4, 2026 at Lindside Healthcare Center following a short illness.

Born March 19, 1951 in Troy, NY he was a son of the late Bernard “Harold” and Melvina Teson Rootes.

Ronald was Commissioner of Public Works for Green Island. He enjoyed NASCAR, Lebanon Valley, motorsports, motorcycles, and the outdoors, being on Lake Champlain pulling skiers as fast as he could. Ronald was an auto mechanic who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by three siblings, Sandy Rootes Claus, Bernard “Buddy” Rootes and Thomas “Tucker” Rootes.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 20 years, Jo Anne Nazarian Rootes; three step sons, John Hornick and wife Tanya, David Hornick and wife Courtney and Ryan Hornick and fiancé Tia; two step grandchildren, Zeppelin and Henry; one sister, Susan Supski and husband Michael and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 17, 2026 at the First Presbyterian Church at Hinton with Pastor Isaiah Kim officiating. Friends may meet at the church one hour prior to services.
