Obituary

Robert Preston “Bobby” Whittle, 63, of Hinton went home to be with the Lord Monday, May 18, 2026 at the Summers Healthcare Center following a long illness.

Born October 5, 1962 in Hinton, he was a son of the late Frank Ray and Helen Sue Young Whittle.

Bobby was a member of Central Baptist Church in Hinton, a 1981 graduate of Hinton High School, and a member of the Bobcat football team, where he played under Coaches Garten and Curia. He remained a devoted Bobcat fan and served as a football assistant for many years, as his health allowed. Bobby loved football, the river, and fishing, and he was also an avid Raiders fan.

He is preceded in death by two sisters; Teresa Rae Whittle Slatton and Kimberly Lynn Whittle Grimmett; and great nephew, Logan Michael Reynolds.

Those left to cherish his memory include his niece, Helen Sue Bryant Willis and husband Jeremy and their family Kevin Boyce Reynolds, Kimberly Sue Reynolds and Hannah Elizabeth Willis; nephews, Ricky Ray Slatton and family, Jessie Slatton and family; special friends, Keith Hughes, Greg Vandall, Robbie Merritt, Greg Surber, Glen Vallandingham, and Jack David Woodrum; numerous additional friends and family too numerous to mention.

A Celebration of Bobby’s Life will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, May 23, 2026 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until time of services Saturday at the funeral parlors. The family would like to thank the past and present staff at Summers Nursing for their care and love they have given Bobby over the years. Following the services Bobby’s wishes were to be cremated. In lieu of flowers donations of sympathy may be made to the funeral parlor for funeral expenses.
