Robert Combs

Robert A. Combs, 83, of Jumping Branch entered into eternal rest Friday, September 13, 2019 at the VA Medical Center in Beckley following a long illness.
Born February 25, 1936 at Crab Orchard he was a son of the late Rev. W.C. and Norma E. Ball Combs.
Bob served in the United States Navy, was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of the WV State Association of Freewill Baptists where he was an ordained minister. He was a retired brick mason who enjoyed fishing, church functions and spending time with friends and family.
Preceding him in death include his loving wife, Charlotte Combs; and siblings Johnny, Mark, Jimmy Kemper Combs, Sharon Rose Combs and Mary Ruth Sisk.
Those left to cherish his memory include two sons, Col. Robert A. Combs Jr. and wife Merissa, Eric M. Combs and wife Tammy all of Harrisburg, NC; one daughter, Connie Hodges and husband Tee of Concord, NC; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; his siblings, Billy Combs and wife Jackie of TN, Nancy Cook and husband Ed of KY, Norma Bibb of TX, Betty Basham of Jumping Branch, David Combs of Coal City, Donnie Combs of AL, Greg Combs and wife Vicky of GA, Scottie Combs and wife Carla of Brandywine, and Judy Puckett and husband Jim of OK; numerous very close friends, nieces, nephews and cousins whom he loved dearly also survive.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at the Jumping Branch Tabernacle with Rev. Jim Puckett, Ed Cook, and Lowell Black officiating. Burial will follow in the Lilly-Crews Cemetery at Nimitz. Friends may call from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Jumping Branch Tabernacle. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
