Rex Marcum

Ruford Rex Marcum, 50, of True died at 3:45pm November 5, 2004 at his home following a short illness. Born February 22nd 1954 in Logan County, he is the son of the late Floyd R. Marcum and Mary M. Pritchard Marcum of Canada, Kentucky. Rex was a disabled miner and was an Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 628 of Princeton WV were he served as Vice President of the Chapter. Besides his father Rex is preceded in death by one daughter Chastity Hope Marcum on September 12th 1997, a brother Michael E. Marcum in June of 1997 and his mother-in-law Violet Deloris Edwards in July of 2003. Besides his mother Rex is survived by his wife Sharon E. Marcum, his daughter Angie Roberson and husband Bobby and his granddaughter Haley Nichole Roberson all of True; four sisters Chris Baxter of Denton TX, Cathie Marcum of North Ridgeville OH, Sheila Ratcliffe and husband Donnie of Canada, KY and Tammy Johnson and husband Kenny of Logan, WV a special friend and caregiver Lou Waters, Rex?s father-in-law Arthur Edwards of True, whom he thought of as a father, four sister-in-laws; Violet Kesner and husband Mike of Middletown VA, Kathy Kershner and husband Jim of Lebanon IN, Janet Mines and husband Mike of Hilldale WV and Charlene Hardy of Winchester VA, three brother-in-laws; Gary Edwards and wife Mary of True, Philip Edwards and wife Gladys of Princeton, WV and John Edwards and wife Ashley of Waynesboro VA and several nieces and one nephew also survive. Funeral services will be held Monday at 3:00 P.M. at the James Chapel United Methodist Church at True with pastors Carl Edwards and Tommy Mounts officiating. Burial will follow in the Edwards Family Cemetery at True. Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 628 will be in charge of Military Graveside Rites. Friends may call at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlor Chapel in Hinton from 6 to 8pm Sunday and at the church one hour prior to services. Pallbearers will be Ed Taylor, Jerry Midkiff, Tracy Cochran, Don Martin, Frank Thomas and Keith Dannily. Honorary pallbears will be Larry Pennington, Ray Tilly, Jack David Woodrum, David Johnson and Darrell Lilly.
