Rev. Emery Mounts, 89, of Hinton known affectionately as Tommy, entered eternal rest on Sunday, June 16, 2024 at the Bowers Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family.
Born February 17, 1935 in Roanoke, VA, Tommy was a son of the late Earl and Hettie Hall Mounts.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, was a master builder of many homes in Summers County and an engineer for the railroad. Tommy will be fondly remembered for sharing the gospel and saving souls for his Lord and Savior, for over 60 years. Tommy touched many lives through his ministry, churches, weddings, funerals, and radio broadcast. He loved to fellowship, work on his farm, and spend time with his family. He will be sadly missed by many.
Tommy was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Martha Ball Mounts; one granddaughter, Keyley Mounts; two sisters, Nadine and Eleanor; one brother, Linkous and father and mother in law, John and Pauline Ball.
Those left to cherish his memory include four sons, Rodney (Tammy) Mounts, Greg (Kim) Mounts, Steve (Debbie) Mounts and Todd (Pam) Mounts; eight grandchildren, Adam (Tiffany) Mounts, Emily (Richie) Mounts, Ethan (Jazlyn) Mounts, Megan (Casey) Morgan, Tyler (Stephanie) Mounts, Chris (Jaden) Mounts, Hunter (Jensen) Mounts and Nick Mounts; fifteen great grandchildren, Corbyn, Hadley, Makinzi, Olivia, Lucas, Abigail, Emberlyn, Oaklyn, Weston, and Kason Mounts, Sawyer and Saydee Morgan, and Haleigh, Brady and Ellie Cozort, and his beloved dog Gracie. Tommy adored his family, was a wonderful father, grandfather, mentor, and friend. His legacy will live on through those he loved and who loved him.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 20, 2024 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastors Robbie Merritt, Terry Utterback, and Wayne Peters officiating. Burial will follow in the Restwood Memorial Gardens on Madams Creek. Friends may call from 6:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral parlors.
Serving as pallbearers will be – Adam, Ethan, Tyler, Chris, Hunter, and Nick Mounts, Casey Morgan, and Richie Spearen. Honorary pallbearers – Kevin Richmond, Josh, Joe, and Keith Bowling, and Josh and Zac Cox.
Tommy’s family wish to express sincere appreciation to Bowers Hospice House for the genuine kindness and compassion toward them, Tommy, and his care during his last part of his journey on earth.
