Raymond Houchins

September 3, 1922 — December 7, 2004

Raymond Lee Houchins, 82, of Pipestem, died at 10:15 A.M. Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at the Princeton Community Hospital, following a long illness. Born September 3, 1922 at Pipestem, he was a son of the late Lawnie L. and Virginia Rose Holdren Houchins and was a lifelong resident of Pipestem. Mr. Houchins was a retired employee of the Maintenance Department of the Pipestem Resort State Park and had a lifelong love for farming. He was a member of the Cook?s Chapel Baptist Church at Pipestem. Preceded in death by his step-mother, Grace Trusby Houchins, two brothers, Charles R. and Burnice L. Houchins and two sisters, Laura Christy Jones and Patty Ann Butler. Survived by one brother; Benny Dale Houchins and wife Mary of Jumping Branch, two sisters; Margaret Caperton and husband Paul of Pipestem and Effie Helen Armentrout of Charlottesville, VA, one sister-in-law; Betty Houchins of Speedway; two nephews, Chris and Benjamin Houchins, four nieces; Roseanne Bell, Nanetta Jones, Melissa Kiser and Jennifer Belcher; two great nephews and three great nieces also survive. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Dallas Peyton officiating. Burial will follow in the Houchins Family Cemetery at Pipestem. Friends may call at the funeral parlors from 6-8 P.M. Thursday. Pallbearers: Charles Casey, Roger and Steve Lilly, Jerry and Keith Phillips and Norman Keaton.
