Rev. Ray Martin, 78, of Hinton, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, April 9, 2015 at the Bowers Hospice House following a long illness.
Born March 22, 1937 in Elton, he was the son of the late Carmen E. and Dolly Vandall Martin. Preacher Martin was ordained August 22, 1953 at the age of 17, he then served the Lord in many churches in Ohio, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia with most of his ministry being in Southern WV, where he was loved by all who knew him. He loved his Savior, family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret G. Martin; two children, Raymond "Pee Wee" Grose and Sharon Hicks; four grandchildren, Melissa Lilly, Tyler Lilly, Jonathan Lilly, Darrell Ray Turner; one sister, Violet Pack; and two brothers, Melvin and Rex Martin.
Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Vicky Lilly and husband Mike of Pipestem and Delores "Dee Dee" Lilly and husband Terry of Leatherwood; one son, Richard Grose and wife Susan of Leatherwood; eight grandchildren, Angel Lilly, Breanna Lilly, Corey Lilly, Jeremy Grose, Jason Grose, Kristen Grose, Llerrad Hicks, Chris Hicks; six great grandchildren; one brother, Alvie Martin of Meadow Bridge; five sisters, Reba Davis of Dawson, Hilda Davis and husband Tom of Dawson, Judy Williams and husband Dale of Meadow Bridge, Virginia Williams and husband Lovell of Meadow Bridge and Elma Osborne of Rainelle and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday April 14, 2015 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in the Wimmer Cemetery. Friends may from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM Monday, April 13, 2015 at the funeral parlors.
Jeremy Grose, Jason Grose, Corey Lilly, Eric Yancey, Jerry Williams, and Greg Williams will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dale and Lovell Williams, and Richard Lilly.
