Paul Elbert ?Buck? Ratliff, 82, of Hinton, died Thursday morning September 24, 2005 at the Halstead?s Care Home at Nimitz, following a long illness. Born May 31, 1922 in Hinton, he was the son of the late Charles and Jennie Harvey Ratliff. Mr. Ratliff was a retired welder for the CSX Corp., a member of the Transportation and Communications Union and a U.S. Army Veteran having served his country with the 12th Armored Division during WWII and was a recipient of The Bronze Star Medal. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Miller Ratliff, in 1991 and two brothers, Leslie and Basil Ratliff. Survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, Jackie and Linda Ratliff and Dickie and Barbara Ratliff all of Covington, VA; one granddaughter, Dixie Howard of Covington, VA, three grandsons; Michael Ratliff and Cameron Ratliff of Covington, VA and Craig Ratliff of Richmond, VA, seven great grandchildren; Brandon, Breyden, Colton, Dylan, Brady, Zachary and Elizabeth, two brothers, Clinton Ratliff of Shady Spring, WV and Charles Ratliff of Hinton, WV and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Roy Lee Honaker Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Restwood Memorial Gardens at Hinton. Friends may call at the funeral parlors from 6-8 P.M. Saturday. Pallbearers will be Robert and Tommy Miller, Ronald Sowder, Eddie, Michael, Craig and Cameron Ratliff and Robbie Howard. Honorary pallbearers; Doug Fox, Butch Ballengee and Dr. Stanley T. Day.
