IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patricia Ruth "Pat"
Gwinn
December 5, 1955 – February 9, 2026
Beloved Mother, Sister, Aunt, Wife, Friend. It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of the sweetest soul we will ever know. Patricia Ruth “Pat” Gwinn went to be with the Lord on Monday February 9th after a short illness. Patricia Ruth Gwinn was born on December 5th, 1955 in Fayette County WV to the late Sidney Floyd Moye and Ruth Virgina Canterbury Moye. The youngest of 6 siblings, she loved her brothers and sisters more than anything and always treated their children as her own. Her nieces and nephews were not only family but were some of her best friends. As well as some that may not have been related by blood but were her daughters just the same. Family was the most important thing in this world to her. And she showed that in everything she did. She was the very best Mother. Pat never met a stranger. She made a lasting imprint on everyone’s heart she met. Pat graduated from Mountain State University as an Occupational Therapist Assistant. She loved her career, because she loved to help people. Long before her degree she worked with Raleigh County Community Action. It was important to her to help people get back on the right track. Giving them a chance and the help they needed. She always saw the best in people. Pat was always a giver. She would literally give you the shirt off her back at the slight mention that you liked it. Forever putting others before herself. Always quick to offer a meal, or an egg sandwich. She was so loving and kind. The epitome of selflessness. Pat was an Artist: Printer, painter, and children’s book illustrator. She loved to make art. Her talents were endless. She loved music, and dancing. She enjoyed traveling and visiting friends and family. Her most favorite thing was to just get in the car with no destination or route in mind and just drive. Always stopping for a good yard sale. She loved to thrift. No matter the city or state she would always find the closest thrift store, but always looking for something she knew someone else would love to have. There are not enough words, lines or pages to write out how we feel about her or how absolutely amazing she was, or how many people have been made better by being blessed with knowing her. She has left a hole in all of us that will never be filled. Even with that ache, there is also a warm blanket wrapped around our shoulders where her arms squeezed us tight with her loving hugs. Pat is preceded in death by her father Sidney and mother Ruth along with aunt Nellie Canterbury, sister Virginia “Ginger” Hanshew, and brothers Sidney Jr. “Buddy” Moye, Benton “Benny” Moye. Those left to cherish Pat’s memory, daughter Ruthie Clendenin (Jon), granddaughter Maple Clendenin, Clifford Gwinn, Sister Margret “Margie” ,Dunn, brother John “Johnny” Moye, Niece Jody Crist (Greg), Nephew Mathew Hanshew, Cousin Teresa Reynolds (Steve), Cousin Garnet Clinebell. And many more cousins, nieces, nephews and friends that were family. There will be a celebration of Pat’s beautiful life at a later date. And always remember in the words of Pat, ...........”JUST LIVE! , Love ya bye.”
