Patricia Kaye Ayers Worles, 81, of Hinton, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Peyton Hospice House following a sudden illness. Born September 16, 1944, in Toledo, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Edward Bryan Ayers and Inez Avon Bargeheiser Ayers.
She was a 1962 graduate of Hinton High School in Hinton, West Virginia, where she was a majorette. Patricia was a home healthcare worker for the elderly and the former Pastor of Mt. Zion and Sand Knob United Methodist Church. She had previously been a member of the Summers County Auxiliary and a Jayceette. Patricia enjoyed preparing “Yummy Bags” for the children of the community, maintaining her yard, and loved picking berries with her family.
Patricia’s family will forever cherish the childhood memories of the original stories she would invent for them, most notably the adventures of her own self-made fictional character, “Sunny Buc.” She also had a love for music and spent many dedicated years singing in her church choir. Patricia loved to travel, especially with her family. She was a giving, loving, and caring soul who loved her community and her family beyond measure. Patricia was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 1/2 years, James Douglas Worles; two sisters, Judith Arthur and Lucinda Ayers; and one brother, Tom Ayers.
Those left to cherish her memory include her three children, James Timothy Worles and wife Shelby, Teresa Robin Pack, and Parrish Douglas Worles and wife Susie; four grandchildren, Teresa C. Worles, Samantha Worles, James RL Meadows, and Timothy Worles; and eight great-grandchildren, Ryan Bailey, Shekeela Chapman, Ahla Meadows, Amelia Hayes, Lyla Hayes, Lillian Worles, Grant Worles, and Rylee Meadows.
Memorial services will be 3:30 P.M. Thursday, May 28, 2026, at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Timothy Worles officiating. A time of fellowship with the family will be from 2:00 P.M. until the time of services Thursday at the funeral parlors.
The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers during this difficult time. They would also like to extend thanks to the nursing staff at Charleston Area Medical Center General Division, especially Erin and Briana, and the staff of Peyton Hospice House, especially Hope, Morgan, Jordan, and Amelia.
