Oliver J. Ward, 53, of Hix went home to be with the Lord Wednesday March 18, 2015 following a long illness.
Born June 25, 1961 at Hix he was the son of the late Cecil Edward and Frances Burdette Ward. A 1979 graduate of Hinton High School he attended Ohio State University; he was a construction worker his entire life and he currently worked for Jim's Construction, a member of the Chestnut Grove Baptist Church where he loved to attend. Oliver dearly loved his wife, children, grandchildren and his entire family.
Preceded in death by his son, Ivan Wayne Gill Jr.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 32 years, Sherry A. Ward of Hix; one daughter, Jennifer Ward Thompson and husband Jeff of Rainelle; seven grandchildren, Mia Thompson, Kevin Thompson, Zach Thompson, Tom Thompson, Kena Thompson, Dakota and Shayelea; one sister, Deborah Burdette of Hinton; three brothers, Dino Ward and wife Kim of Hix, Clyde Edward "Old Man" Ward of Hix and Harvey Wayne Ward and wife Patricia of Hix, several nieces, nephews and his beloved pet Precious.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Friday March 20, 2015 at the Chestnut Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Benny Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the Cecil Ward cemetery at Hix. Friends may call from noon until service time at the church.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
