Okley O. Ballengee, 94, of Shady Spring passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Bowers Hospice House following a long illness.
Born January 17, 1922 in Summers Co. he was the son of the late Tom and Lizzy Bennett Ballengee. Okley was a laborer many years with Anchor and Alaska Fence Co. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and spending time with his family and friends.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Rendia Plumley and Nora Hartsfield and one brother, Arthur Ballengee.
Survived by two sisters, Lottie Bennett of Shady Springs and Irene Richmond of Beckley; one brother, Billy Ballengee of Shady Springs, several nieces, nephews and his caregiver, JoAnne Robertson.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, April 21, 2016 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Otis Cales officiating. Burial will follow in the Bennett Family Cemetery on Bennett Mountain. Friends may call from 6-8 pm on Wednesday at the funeral parlors.
Johny Ballengee, Russell Ballengee, Richard Ballengee, Lenzie Bennett, Tommy Dunn and J.D. Bennett will serve as pallbearers.
Arrangements are by the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors of Hinton.
