Norman Ray Pack, age 86, of Stahlstown, PA, formerly of Huntingtown, MD, passed away in Concordia at Bethlen Personal Care Home in Ligonier, PA on June 17, 2026.
Born February 27, 1940 in Coal City, WV, he was the son of Howard C. Pack, Sr. and wife Orene Neely Pack. His paternal grandparents were Albert W. Pack and wife Lithena M. Lilly Pack. Maternal grandparents were Levi Allen Neely, Jr. and wife Eliza Farley Neely.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Juanita E. Lilly Pack and son, Terence Lee Pack; his brothers, Edmund D. Pack, Sr. and wife Barbara Wimer Pack, Howard C. Pack, Jr., in-laws, Denzil D. Lyon and Tommy Neely, Murvel L. Lilly and his wife Dorothy Wright Lilly, Wanda J. Lilly Gill and husband Jerry, Nancy L. Lilly Bartin, and Geraldine K. Lilly Hill.
Norman graduated from Hinton High School in 1957. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1958 and was sent to Yale to study the Chinese language. He and Juanita were married in 1959. Norman was stationed in the Philippines and then at Fort Meade working at the N.S.A. He left the Navy with the rank of Petty Officer Second Class. After leaving the Navy, he went to work for Hechinger Company in the Washington, D.C. area. He worked for Hechinger for 29 years and finished his career with them as a store manager in the Pittsburgh area.
He is survived by his daughters, Carol Pack Urban and husband Philip of Stahlstown, PA, Kimberly Pack McCullen and wife Ashley of Siler City, NC; son, Gregory A. Pack and fiancé Amy Lynch of Ocala, FL; grandsons, Ralph N. Puffenbarger and Joseph A. Puffenbarger of PA, Jeffrey A. Wildermuth and wife Zonia of NY, Grant and Evan Pack of FL; granddaughters, Haley Pack Currier
and husband Devin, and Olivia Pack of FL; great-grandchildren, Jassmine, Lilly, Dixie-Lee, Michael and Logan Puffenbarger, and Dorian S. Wildermuth.
He is also survived by his siblings, Joyce Pack Lyon, Brenda Pack Neely, Betty Pack Nichols and husband Fred, and Gary Pack and wife JoAnn, all of Pipestem, WV; and one brother-in-law, Larry E. Lilly and wife, Donna, of Martinsburg, WV plus numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by many dear friends.
We wish to thank the nurses, doctors and staff, in addition to the hospice team, who took great care of him during his illness.
Cremation was chosen and we are honoring those wishes. A joint Memorial Service / Celebration of Life for Norman and Juanita will be held at a later date and will follow with inurnment in the Lilly-Crews Cemetery at Nimitz.
