Nellie Jo Mason, 97, of Hinton passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at Bowers Hospice House following a short illness.

Born January 26, 1929 in Nimitz she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Edith Ward Frazier.

Nellie was a career telephone operator with Alltel Telephone Corp. who enjoyed reading, walking and spending time with her grandchildren and family. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Nellie was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Mason; one son, David V. Mason and her five siblings, Macie Lilly, Laura Dobbins, Sue Day, Jenny Ellison and Wendell Bowles.

Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Michael Tyler Mason and Terrance Allen Mason and wife Margaret Baker Mason; two grandchildren, Stephen Michael Mason and Amanda Catherine Mason. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
