Nellie Marie Martin

Nellie Marie Martin, 85, of Forest Hill entered into eternal rest Monday, May 5, 2025 at her home following a short illness.

Born May 19, 1939 in Hinton, she was a daughter of the late Fred L. and Gracie Mae Gill Meadows.

Nellie was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She was a former employee of Summers County Hospital and had also worked as a home healthcare provider. Nellie was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed her flowers, gardening, camping, cookouts and spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband William M. Martin; one daughter, Barbara Sue Martin; one son, James Edgar Martin; one granddaughter, Kimberly Janel Weikle; one sister, Cronie Petrey; three brothers, Fred Meadows, Jackie Meadows and Frank “Jake” Meadows; two half-sisters, Hazel Lilly and Kathy Yates and two half-brothers, Fred Meadows and Johnny Meadows.

Those left to cherish her memory include her three children, Mary Jane Martin Weikle and husband Joseph, Robert Ray Martin and wife Robin and Tommy Lee Martin and wife Valeria; seven grandchildren, Jeremiah James Martin, Joseph Martin, Alex Martin, Joede Weikle, Jacob Weikle, Brandon Harper and Amanda Harper; seven great grandchildren; five siblings, Jessie Meadows and wife Sue, Oscar Meadows, Martha Cooper and husband Delbert, Charles “Ray” Meadows and wife Libby and Goldie Furrow and husband Phil; many nieces nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, May 10, 2025 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Joe Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in the Martin Family Cemetery at Forest Hill. Visitation will be from noon until time of services on Saturday at the funeral parlors. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
