Nellie Mae Lester Harrah, 80, of Meadow Creek went home to join Heaven's family choir Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Main Street Care in Hinton, following a long illness.
Born July 29, 1934 at Meadow Creek, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Jason and Chlora Jane Gwinn Smith.
Nellie was a lifelong resident of Summers County. She was of the Holiness faith. She was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Nellie loved flowers, gardening, animals but her favorite was cats, singing, baking, taking care of others, and spending time with her family and friends.
Nellie was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl Kenneth Lester; second husband, Junior H. Harrah; daughter, Tenavee Mae Crowe; and siblings, Louisa Lee Richmond, Lewis Kyle Smith, Cordelia Hannah Stiles, Paul Andrew Smith, Vivian Pearl Wilburn, Jr. Clarence Jason, Esther Mary DiLegge, Martha Lorena Fanary, Seth Boone Smith, and Samuel Edward Smith.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Alesasa Bennett and husband James of Talcott, Vincent Lester and wife Barbara of Hinton, Carmelia Toney and fiance Stephen Hatcher of Crab Orchard, Aaron Lester and wife Regina of Danese; grandchildren, Christopher A. Toney of KY, Daniel Toney of Mt. Carbon, Brooke Cole of Danese, Allison Lester of Danese, Joshua Crowe of N.C., Andy Sampson of Huntington, Tyler Cox of Hinton; great grandson, Tristan Toney of K.Y., brothers, John Wesley Smith and wife Sue of Meadow Creek and Emanuel Wilson Smith and wife Shirley of Loops Road; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved dearly.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Brother Gary Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Family Cemetery at Meadow Creek. Friends may call from noon until time of the services Saturday at the funeral parlors.
Arrangements are by the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors of Hinton.
