Nancy Louise Hartwell

Nancy Louise Hartwell, 73, of Green Sulphur Springs went home to be with the Lord Thursday, March 19, 2026 at Summers County Appalachian Regional Hospital following a long illness.

Born November 29, 1952 in Hinton, she was a daughter of the late Dempsey and Helen Burnette Cyrus.

Nancy was preceded in death by one brother, Dempsey Cyrus Jr. and one sister, Alma Cyrus.

She was a member of Lick Creek Baptist Church and had formerly attended Elton Community Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher. Nancy was an avid horseman who loved reading her Bible, farming, gardening, canning, shopping with her daughter and traveling cross country with her husband in his tractor trailer. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed dearly.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 52 years, James J. Hartwell Sr.; one son, James J. Hartwell Jr. and wife Heather; one daughter, Kim Cole and husband Gary and three grandchildren, Sophie Hartwell, Chase Cole and Channing Cole.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Steve Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Wallace Memorial Gardens at Clintonville. Visitation will be from 12:30 until time of services on Tuesday at the funeral parlors. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
