Melba Jacqueline "Jackie" Lilly McGuire, 85, of Shady Spring went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital after an extended illness.
Born July 17, 1929 at Sand Knob, WV, she was the daughter of the late Charles Wilson Lilly and Dessie Hamm Lilly and stepdaughter of Orah Hamm Lilly.
At the young age of thirteen, Jackie quit school to care for her brothers and sisters due to the death of her mother. Jackie was employed at the Hinton Hospital and later as an evening desk clerk at the Sandman Motel. She made her home in Hinton until moving to Ashland, Kentucky for a brief time and then returned to Hinton in 2005. She had been residing at Greystone Assisted Living in Shady Spring for over four years. Jackie attended church at First Christian Church in Hinton.
In addition to her parents and stepmother, Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Phillip McGuire in 2004; her son, Danny Ray Brumit in 2009; brothers, Charles Lilly, Pastor Phillip Lilly, Donald Hamm, Pastor Darrell Hamm; and her sister Faye Hamm.
Those left to cherish her memory are her grandson, Steven Brumit and wife Tara, great grandchildren Taylor and Justin of Pipestem; granddaughter and primary caregiver, Melanie Stewart and husband Brice, great granddaughter Zoe of Beckley; mother of her grandchildren, Linda Brumit of Hinton; siblings, Lorene Tyree, Geraldine Meadows, Shelby Jean Warden and husband Gerald, Billy Lilly and wife Gwen, Virginia Wills, Myrtle Harvey, Mack Hamm and wife Rosella, Frank Hamm and wife Ruby, Mae Hurt and husband Vernon; brother in law, E. Patrick McGuire; sister in laws, Gloria Lilly, Velma Lilly, Ruth Hamm, Rhodetta Jones Hamm, Mary Joan Meece; cherished niece and personal nurse, Tammy Keaton; and numerous special nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors with Pastor Gary Adkins officiating. Entombment will follow in the Ashland Cemetery in Ashland, Kentucky. Friends may call from 10:00 AM until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral parlors. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
