Mary Briers

Mary Virginia Briers, 92, of 210 Miller Ave. expired at 1:45 P.M. on November 14, 2005 at home following an extended illness. Born November 10, 1913 in Ansted, WV, she was the daughter of the late Virgil H. and Myrtle B. Neal Long. She was a loving, caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her family and known for her beautiful roses. She was a member of the Miller Memorial United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher as long as health permitted. Besides her parents and a teenage brother James, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Charles S. Briers Sr. in November 1996, a son-in-law Jack A. Richmond in December 1997 and a great grandson Christopher Neil Briers in 1990. Survivors include two sons, Scott Briers and wife Emily of Hinton and Thomas Briers and wife Joyce of Bonita Springs, FL; daughter Nancy Neal Richmond of Hinton; six grandchildren, Gregory Briers and wife Kelly of Huntington, Jeffrey Neil Briers and wife Carolyn of Oak Hill, Susan Briers Boland and husband Mitch of Shady Spring, Maj. Jack J. Richmond and wife Angela of Scott Depot, Michael T. Briers and wife Chandra of Shanghai, China and Rachael Briers Bell and husband Ed of Fort Myers, FL; fourteen great grandchildren, Grant and Delaney Briers of Huntington, Sam Walters and wife Candy of Welcome, NC, Heather Shannon of Myrtle Beach, SC, Amy and Aaron Briers of Oak Hill, Casey, Elyse and Allyson Boland of Shady Springs, Hunter Scott Richmond of Scott Depot, Mary Beth and John Michael Briers of Shanghai, China, Charlie and Jack Bell of Fort Myers, FL; one great-great granddaughter, Sarah Walters; two nephews, Robert Myers and wife Marie and Terry Briers and wife Janie of Talcott, devoted caregivers, Pat Woodrum, Betty Fox, Jeanie Cales, Jean Houchins, Judy Fortner and Minnie Rudisill. Funeral service will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday November 17, 2005 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Eugene Fullen and Dr. James M. Rice who will serve the family. Burial will follow in the Greenbrier Burial Park. Friends may call from 6-9 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral parlors and one prior to the service on Thursday. Grandsons, Max Cale and Alan Harvey will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers the family request donations of sympathy to be made to Hospice of Southern WV, P.O. Box 1472, Beckley, WV 25802.
