Marilyn Sue “Honey” Blackburn, 73 of Sandstone was serenaded by angels to her heavenly home on Friday, January 7, 2022 at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, in Lewisburg, following a brief illness.
Born November 9, 1948 at Helen, WV, Marilyn was the daughter of the late Herbert and Mary Josephine (Lynch) Blackburn. Marilyn was of a strong Pentecostal faith, and a media-member of Jimmy Swaggart’s Family Worship Center in Baton Rouge, LA. She was a retired home health/private health care provider to the elderly. Marilyn enjoyed being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed shopping, crocheting, knitting, tending to her flowers, cooking, and spending time with her family.
Marilyn was preceded in death one infant sister, Mary Margaret Blackburn; two brothers, Rev. Robert “Bobby” J. Stover, and William “Billy” Blackburn; two nephews, Michael Blackburn and Clifford “Cliff” Perkins; three sisters-in-law, Ann (Williams) Blackburn, Carmen (Marquez) Blackburn, and Marjorie (Whitehurst) Stover and one grandson, Garrett John Clark.
Those left to reminisce the life of Marilyn include her daughters, Donna (Rodney) Friend of Big Rock, VA, Patricia “Patti” (Dan) Northern of Sandstone, Cathryn Denise Clark of Hinton, and Leslie (Kris) Cales of Sandstone; one son, Bruce Edward Clark of Sandstone; sisters, Rosalind (Steve) Mussleman of Helenwood, TN, and Gale Ann Byrnside of Memphis, TN; brothers, Larry Allen (Barbara) Blackburn of Cicero, IL, Bernard “Buddy Lee” (Linda) Blackburn of Clinton, IL, Herbert Joseph “Herbie” (Penny) Blackburn of Midland, NC, Donald Edward Blackburn of Bridgeview, IL, and Gerald Wayne Blackburn of Chicage, IL; grandchildren, Keith Allen Friend, Anthony Michael (Grace) Cales, Dustin Logan Northern, Leonard Jeffery Acord, Ciera Cheyenne Elizabeth (Travis) McMillion, Jacob “Big Jake” Layne Northern, Sydney Lynne-Madison Cales; four great grandchildren that she dearly cherished, Greyson Keith Friend, Braelynn Jennings Ward (“Miss B”), Piper Rae-Lynn McMillion (“Piper-Doo”), and Matthew Waylon(“Bubba”) Cales; many nieces, nephews, and one very special dear friend, William Richmond.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, January 13, 2022 at the Ramp Holiness Church with Pastor Felix Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Northern Family Cemetery at Ramp. Friends may call from noon until time of services on Thursday at the church.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family requests you please wear a mask at the church and if you are sick or feel that you have been exposed, please do not attend.
