Mabel Lilly Lazio, 102, of Hilldale, passed away on December 5, 2005 at the Summers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Hilldale . Born February 16, 1903 in Summers County, she was the daughter of the late Congressman Thomas Jefferson and Roxy Lilly Lilly. She was the former wife of C&O Engineer Cecil Lilly of Hinton with whom she had four children; Tommy and Betty who preceded her in death and Edward Lilly and wife Mary of Nimitz and Patty Wilson of Hinton who survive her. Also preceding her in death where four brothers; Judson, Paul, Sampson and Warren and four sisters; Maude, Daisy, Zella and Lillie. Besides Patty Wilson and Edward Lilly she is survived by eight grandchildren; Dr. Edward Lilly, Alan Lilly, Steven Lilly, Charlotte Robertson, Michael Lilly, Peggy Frese and Martin and Robert Wilson, thirteen great-grandchildren; Edward Lilly, Tiffany Adkins, Michelle Humphries, Dewitt Hurst, Jennifer Lewis, Alexa, Danielle, Brandi and Bo Wilson, D. K. and Matthew Robertson and Tommy and Joey Lilly and eight great-great grandchildren; Christian and Kylie Lilly, Melody and Bryce Adkins, Brian, Jimmy and Allison Hurst and Lilly Beth Lewis. Mrs. Lazio lived the early part of her life as a resident and School Teacher in Summers Co. She moved to Florida in the 1950â??s and became a real estate investor and cattle rancher. She was a Baptist and attended church regularly. One of her favorite pastimes was dancing. It was at one of these dances that she met Joseph Lazio, whom she married. She always had a positive attitude toward life and walked five miles a day until she injured her back at the age of 96. At her husbandâ??s passing three years later she again became a resident of Summers County, where she remained until her death on Monday. She was an avid supporter of the Lilly Family Reunion Association. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel in Hinton with Pastors Jeff Canterbury and Bill Fox officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenbrier Burial Park at Hinton. Friends may call at the funeral parlors from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
