Luther Wesley "Shorty" Stapleton

     Luther Wesley “Shorty: Stapleton, 76, of Princeton went home to be with the Lord Thursday, December 28, 2023 at the Mercer Healthcare Center in Bluefield, WV following a long illness.

     Born August 5, 1947 in Charleston he was a son of the late Charles and Anna Mae Richards Stapleton.

     Luther was a former electrician and coal miner with over 35 years of service. He was a United States Air Force Vietnam Veteran. Luther was a loving father, husband and grandfather who loved deer hunting, fishing, the outdoors and baseball.

     Preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and David Stapleton.

     Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 54 years, Darla Gibson Stapleton; six children, Michelle Cottle and husband G.W., Luther Stapleton and wife Mindy, Vernon Stapleton and wife Valerie, Stacy Stapleton, Austin Stapleton, and Michael Stapleton; nine grandchildren, George, Annaleigh, Charlie, Katherine, Weston, Jackson, Gibson, Vernon Wayne, and Patrick; one sister, Patricia Speakman and husband Larry.

     At Shorty’s request there will be no services.
