lip Lilly

January 26, 1928 — August 6, 2016

Phillip (Phil) Lilly, 88, of Hinton was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug 6, 2016 at the Summers County Health and Rehabilitation Center after a short illness.
Born January 26, 1928, he was a son of the late Clark James Lilly and Nell Madeline Eskridge Lilly.
Phillip retired to Hinton after a 33 year career with General Motors in Toledo OH where he worked within the Chevrolet Transmission plant. A World War II veteran, Phillip served proudly in the U.S. Navy both at sea and at the Norfolk Navy Yard in Norfolk VA.
He will always be remembered for his generosity and love of nature. Phillip loved birds and kept an abundance of feeders around his home for his feathered friends. As a dedicated sports fan he supported the Reds and the Mountaineers thru good years and bad and was always ready to discuss the season with anyone that wanted to chat. Phillip enjoyed the river and camping with his family during the summer. For the years he lived away from Hinton he would travel home each summer to camp on the river. Once Phillip retired and moved back to Hinton, he always had the campsites set and everything ready to receive the family.
Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers; Joseph Lilly, Cyril Lilly, Lyell Lilly, Donald Lilly and Lowell Lilly, his sisters; Nancy Lilly, Marjorie Lilly Anderson, Carol Lilly Smith and Orpha Lilly Haselwood, and a nephew; Edward Smith.
Phillip is survived by his brother Clark James Lilly Jr. and sister in law Gail of Jacksonville FL, his brother in law Carl Smith (Carol) of Hurricane WV, his sister in law Macy Varian (Cyril) of Fayetteville, NC and numerous nieces and nephews.
Phillip supported many charities and would request that in instead of flowers you make a contribution to either the American Bible Society or the SPCA in his name.
