Mrs. Lella Mae Elswick, 83 of Lowell died 11:40pm Friday July 30, 2004 at her home following a long illness. Born July 17, 1921 at Dille, WV, she was a daughter of the late Richard D. and Martha Belle Carter Butcher.Mrs. Elswick had lived all her life in WV, and had been a resident of Lowell for the past 25 years. She was a homemaker and attended the Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her husband, James B. Elswick,one infant son, Vernon Robert Elswick, two brothers, Harling Oliver Butcher Sr., and George Arling Butcher, two sisters, Rebecca Arthella Hosey Gray and Louella Marie Butcher and two great grandchildren.Survived by four son; William Lee Elswick of Greensboro, NC, Gary Wayne Elswick of Harpers Ferry, James H. Elswick and wife Judy of Lexington, NC and David Elswick and wife Barbara of Lowell, three daughters; Loretta Lawrence of Enon, OH, Wilma Jones of Columbus, KS, and Julia Walker and husband Danny of Sylvester, one brother, Leroy Butcher of Birch River, two sisters; Lenora Kessel of Salem, VA and Mary Taylor of Ravenswood, her stepmother, Sarah Butcher of Morgantown,three half-brothers; Richard, Charles, and George Butcher all of Morgantown, two half-sisters; Barbara Brook of Colfax, NC and Martha Nick of Greensboro, NC, fourteen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren.Graveside services and burial will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Roselawn Cemetery at Princeton with Pastor Pete Cook officiating. Friends may call at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors in Hinton from 10:00 A.M. until Noon on Tuesday.
