Joy Ann McKinney Bumgarner, 85, of Hix, went home to be with the Lord Friday, September 9, 2016 at the Summers County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a short illness.
Born March 13, 1931 at Hinton she was a daughter of the late Robert Lee Meadows and Cuba Ward Lowe.
Joy was a member of the Ramp Holiness Church. She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Summers County. Joy enjoyed gardening and cooking. She was a loving mother, wife, sister, grandmother and great grandmother.
Joy was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Donald McKinney; second husband, Robert Ray Bumgarner; one sister, Julia Mae Ward; one brother, Kenneth Meadows and one grandson, James McKinney.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Ralph Donald McKinney of Geraldine, AL, Roger Wayne McKinney of Hix, Sonya Kay Devine and husband Ron of Chattanooga, TN, Patricia Carol Halsey and husband Jack of Mt. Airy, NC, Lloyd Gene McKinney and wife Artetta of Kernersville, NC, Robert Lee McKinney of Newton, NC, Joyce Elaine Moore and husband Newton of Gainesville, GA and David Ray McKinney and wife Tammy of Talcott; twelve grandchildren, Angela Ellison, Ethan, Megan, Eli, Jason & Rebecca McKinney, Sean & Scott Devine, Jon & Kyle Moore, Deedra Handy and Wendy Moeller; eleven great grandchildren and one brother, Richard Lowe and wife Carol of Kernersville, NC.
Funeral services will be 4:00 P.M. Monday, September 12, 2016 at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Felix Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the O'Bryan Cemetery at Hix. Friends may call from 3:00 P.M. until time of services Monday at the funeral parlors.
Family will serve as pallbearers. Flowers are welcome and donations of sympathy may be made to the Ramp Holiness Church.
