Josephine Cales

Josephine Foster Cales, 87 of Sandstone, died Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at the Halstead Care Home at Nimitz, following a long illness. Born April 9, 1917 at Sandstone, she was the daughter of the late James and Ona Johnson Foster and was a lifelong resident of Summers Co. She was a homemaker and a member of the Sandstone Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her beloved and loving husband, Eldon (Andy) McKinley Cales in 1977, a twin brother, Joseph Foster, brothers Herbert and Ernest Foster and sisters Annie Foster Meadows, Oma Foster Harris, Rosa Foster Cox and Virginia Foster Shaffer. Survivors include a daughter, Judith Cales Scheifele and husband John of Greenbelt, MD, a son, Gary L. Cales and wife Gloria of Conneaut, OH, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Also left to cherish her memory is her very loving devoted niece, Phyllis Harris Creed and other caring nieces; Patsy Harris Wingfield, Sharon Harris Rodes, Ramona Harris Turner and Phoebe Foster Smith. For the past five years, Josie was cared for by special friend, Linda Halstead and attendants Rashell Taylor, Mike Bennett and helpers at the care home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel in Hinton with Pastors Pete Cook and Melvin Wills officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery at Sandstone. Friends may call at the funeral parlors from 6-9 P.M. Friday. Pallbearers; Jeff and Tim Keifilene and Stephen Sheifele, Stephen Turner, Eric Reeves, Scott Rodes and Tom Creed. In lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy may be made to the Sandstone Baptist or Laurel Creek Baptist Churches or the Green Sulphur Springs Volunteer Fire Department.
