Janice Marlene Voak, 73, of Shallotte, NC formerly of Jumping Branch went home to be with the Lord Friday April 28, 2017 at her home following a short illness.
Born December 25, 1943 at Jumping Branch she was a daughter of the late Oris Vernon and L. Hassie Hatcher Basham.
Janice was of the Baptist faith. She was a former correctional officer for the Federal Women's Prison Camp in Alderson and a homemaker. Janice enjoyed reading, watching television, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jimmy Burkhammer; second husband, Kenneth Voak; one son, David Burkhammer; one sister, Joyce Maxine Worley and one brother, Jack Basham.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Richard Burkhammer of Ladysmith, VA, Lisa Bard of Ladysmith, VA and Kenneth C. Voak of Shallotte, NC; grandchildren, Lee Bard of Bloomington, IL, Jayden Voak, Brendon Voak and Bella Voak all of Ladysmith, VA; a special niece, Verna Schmitt and husband Chris of Shallotte, NC and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Elder Tommy Pack officiating. Burial will follow in the Lilly-Crews Cemetery at Nimitz. Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. until time of services Thursday at the funeral parlors.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Arrangements are by the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors of Hinton.
